Safety first: Use the E-stop, unplug spindle/machine power before touching tools, switches or couplers, and keep hands out of axis travel. Never bypass a hard-limit switch to run a cutting job; do not loosen a powered spindle or jog an axis into its physical end.
Model and version covered
Genmitsu 3018-PROVer V2 with GRBL-compatible controller. Check board marking and firmware before applying GRBL commands; the older 3018-PROVer and V2 Lite do not necessarily have identical connectors.
Version check: Confirm controller, GRBL firmware and actual limit/probe connections before changing parameters or running automated motion.

01
One particular axis fails to jog
HOW TO CHECK & CORRECT THIS CAUSE
- Remove power and inspect that axis's stepper lead is fully seated in matching X/Y/Z controller port.
- Reseat damaged loose connector only with supply disconnected.
How to tell it is fixed: Jogging that axis works under a short no-cut test.
02
Motor clicks or grinds but carriage does not move
HOW TO CHECK & CORRECT THIS CAUSE
- Power off, inspect leadscrew coupler, jammed nut and rail obstructions and correct mechanical jam/lubrication per router assembly instructions.
How to tell it is fixed: Carriage moves smoothly by manual inspection only when safely unpowered, then by jog.
03
One axis remains dead despite free mechanism and secure lead
HOW TO CHECK & CORRECT THIS CAUSE
- Controller axis-driver or stepper needs qualified isolation using matching V2 hardware rather than swapping live plugs.
How to tell it is fixed: Repaired axis travels both ways without missed steps.
