Safety first: Use the E-stop, unplug spindle/machine power before touching tools, switches or couplers, and keep hands out of axis travel. Never bypass a hard-limit switch to run a cutting job; do not loosen a powered spindle or jog an axis into its physical end.
Model and version covered
Genmitsu 3018-PROVer V2 with GRBL-compatible controller. Check board marking and firmware before applying GRBL commands; the older 3018-PROVer and V2 Lite do not necessarily have identical connectors.
Version check: Confirm controller, GRBL firmware and actual limit/probe connections before changing parameters or running automated motion.

01
XYZ moves but spindle does not rotate
HOW TO CHECK & CORRECT THIS CAUSE
- Unplug router, reseat spindle motor leads at labeled SPINDLE/M+/M- board ports according to V2 diagrams and turn on main 24V supply.
- Set intended spindle speed in Candle/command before air test.
How to tell it is fixed: Spindle spins correctly with no cutting load.
02
Spindle spins manually but stops under load
HOW TO CHECK & CORRECT THIS CAUSE
- Reduce feed/depth of cut, inspect collet/bearing jam and verify toolpath commands actually switch spindle on.
- Avoid energizing open motor leads.
How to tell it is fixed: Spindle maintains commanded speed in light test cut.
03
Motor remains dead on correct power/control while axes work
HOW TO CHECK & CORRECT THIS CAUSE
- Qualified replacement of exact matched spindle motor or controller driver after isolating which failed.
- Never wire spindle direct to mains.
How to tell it is fixed: Normal speed control restored across low/high commanded speeds.
